True Connections Workshop: The Art of Non-Violent Communication
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS DECEMBER 11TH

Would you like...

  • fulfilling connections in reciprocal relationships?
  • to express yourself authentically in ways that build trust?
  • to hear the beauty in whatever someone says?
  • to learn practical skills for communicating compassionately?

Join us for connection skills development experiences as we explore the art of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) by Marshall Rosenberg in this daylong in-person workshop.

Learning Objectives - In this workshop, you will learn and practice how to:

  • Compassionate Honesty - express yourself fully in a way that has a good change of connecting
  • Empathic Listening - listen to the heart of what others are expressing
  • Observations vs. Evaluations - differentiate between observable facts vs. our objective evaluations of them
  • Feelings vs. Thoughts - feelings create a context for the intensity and character of life experience, thoughts are often confused with feelings
  • Needs vs. Strategies - how confusing the two is likely to create conflict
  • Requests vs. Demands, make clear, doable, present requests with an openness to outcome
  • Flow of Connection - it only takes one person practicing NVC for connection

Bring something to share for lunch "pot-luck" style".

Our facilitator is James Prieto - a nature enthusiast, author and Certified Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Trainer, Animas Wild Mind Guide (level 1). James guides individuals toward connection through personal development coaching, by facilitating NVC, along with “Wild NVC” and “Wild Heart” nature-based offerings which integrate with Wild Mind - Field Guide to the Human Psyche by Bill Plotkin, Ph.D. He’s passionate about the intersection of Animas Valley inspired work with NVC as a way to contribute to Earth elder Joanna Macy’s “Great Turning” and Thomas Berry’s “Great Work.”

“What you can live
wholeheartedly
will make plans
enough
for the vitality
hidden in your sleep.

To be human
is to become visible
while carrying
what is hidden
as a gift to others.”
